Caffeine, or not?

On a daily basis, I drink at least one cup of coffee. Many times when I work a full day at work I grab a Monster or Red Bull energy drink to "help" me get through the day. The more I think about it, the dumber it sounds. Why would I need to purchase an "energy" drink? I have found myself buying these things over the past couple of years, not only because I think they taste better than regular pop, but aslo because I feel my body has become physically addicted.

In fact, I'm pretty sure that is the case because there have been times where I have gone without caffeine for an extended period of time and my body feels great.

After reading about some of the symptoms of caffeine addiction, I feel like I am creating unnecessary stress on my body, almost 24 hours a day. I have trouble falling asleep at night, and have an even worse time trying to get up early in the morning. I am ready to stop this stupid cycle, and I would like my body to feel more comfortable on a daily basis.

I plan on curbing my caffeine intake over the next few days by eating a substantial breakfast every morning, drinking lots of water, and continuing to stretch and exercise throughout the day.

After I conquer my issues with caffeine, it's on to taking out excess sugars from the diet!

  1. Sounds like a good plan, Alex. Your body knows what it needs and will function better without the caffeine and with less sugar. Good luck! Make 2013 a great year!

  3. I wish more people were open about what they consume and are addicted to every day. I love you for being honest!
